Volkswagen CC

In 2009, Volkswagen introduced one of the hottest cars to hit the road in years. The Volkswagen CC, part of the Passat lineup of vehicles, exudes luxury and comfort at its finest. It is not uncommon for consumers to look at this car and believe that they cannot afford it. Fortunately, the German automaker has done a great job keeping the Volkswagen CC within the budget of many, with a starting price of approximately $27,100k.

From the moment you lay your eyes on the CC you will realize what Volkswagen was going for: a sedan with coupe lines and styling. Although some companies have tried and failed at this appearance in the past, VW hit the nail on the head.

The CC looks similar (but definitely not identical) to past Passat models, but there are definite changes that should be noted. Most importantly, engineers lowered the stance of the car while also making it longer and wider. The near flat roofline, coupled with frameless side windows, go a long way in giving the Volkswagen CC a coupe-like appearance.

What’s under the hood? The CC features a 2.0 liter four cylinder, 200 horsepower engine which puts out 207 lb-ft of torque. This is far from the most powerful car in its class, but with the manual transmission it can accelerate from 0 – 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. Even if you opt for the automatic, which is the more popular of the two options, it still clocks in at 7.4 seconds.

Those who want more performance from their Volkswagen CC should opt for the VR6 Sport model with 280 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.

The Volkswagen CC comes in four trim levels: Sport, Luxury, VR6 Sport, and VR6. Opting for the base model does not mean that you are missing out. Standard features include: 8-speaker Premium stereo with in-dash 6-disc CD changer, 12-way adjustable power drivers’ seat, 8-way adjustable power passenger seat, 17 inch alloy wheels, leather wrapped shifter and steering wheel, and a sport suspension.

As you move up the trim levels, the number of standard features increase. Some of the most popular include: Park Distance Control, Homelink, Sirius radio, rain sensing wipers, leather seats, and navigation among many others.

Don’t mistake the Volkswagen CC for a regular Passat. Its appearance is different, and the company plans to use it as a launching point for some of the company’s latest and great technology.

If you are in the market for a good looking, well appointed luxury car without a high price tag, the Volkswagen CC is a great place to start. One test drive and it is safe to say that you will be hooked!
